One of my favourite YA authors once said, “Writing makes you a writer.” I couldn’t agree more. Whenever you doubt yourself, pick up your pen. When you question whether your story matters, pick up your pen. When you regret not starting earlier, not reading enough, not practicing sooner—pick up your pen.

It is never too late to become a writer. And it is never too late to become a better one.

Passion lives in daily life; craft is built through repetition. Every sentence you write, every paragraph you struggle through, sharpens your voice. Writing is not just a skill—it’s a ritual. It’s how we push back against anxiety, pressure, comparison, and imposter syndrome.

When you feel lost, stalled, or temporarily disconnected from your work, ask yourself two questions:

1.     Why does this story matter to me?

2.     Why do I want it to matter to the world?

Answering those questions will refuel you. From there, you’re ready for the long drive—the open highway of a writing life.

Good luck, my fellow writers. Keep going.
